Request AppointmentVisiting the dentist’s office can be a difficult experience for some dental patients. Both children and adults often fear what is required during a regular dental appointment, but to minimize anxiety and change the way our dentistry patients view dental care, we are pleased to offer sedation dentistry at My Dentist. Our trusted sedation dentist in Muskogee, OK offers three effective ways of calming nerves and reducing anxiety that can be life-changing for individuals of all ages who struggle with dental anxiety or phobia. If you think you might benefit from one of our available dental sedation options, contact us today.
If you suffer from moderate to severe dental anxiety, we can provide oral conscious sedation to ensure a more positive experience. You’ll be required to take a prescribed pill medication before your appointment, causing you to become relaxed and at ease by the time you reach our dental office. Because the effects can come on quickly and take time to dissipate, we do recommend that you have someone escort you to and from your appointment.
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is the mildest form of sedation and is safe for both children and adults. Once the nasal mask is placed over the nose, the gas works quickly to create a calming effect that allows you to feel much more relaxed. Our team can then complete the work necessary to improve your oral health before it’s time to turn off the gas and remove the mask. Within minutes of removal, the effects dissipate, allowing you to resume normal activity and drive yourself back home or to the dental office.
When multiple treatments are being performed during a single appointment, or you suffer from severe dental anxiety, we often recommend IV sedation. The medication is administered intravenously via the hand or bend of the elbow, and our team will monitor your vitals throughout your procedure to ensure you remain safe. As it enters the bloodstream, you can expect to feel calm and comfortable throughout your appointment. Because of the sense of ease it creates, you’re unlikely to remember anything from your visit. However, you will need to have someone take you home so that you can rest for the remainder of the day.
