How often should I visit the dentist?
We recommend coming into our dental office every six months for an exam and cleaning, no matter your age. These visits are the perfect opportunity for Dr. Mehta to check for underlying conditions (such as tooth decay and gum disease) and treat them before they wreak severe havoc. Your teeth will also be professionally cleaned to remove the buildup of harmful plaque and tartar.
Should I be worried if my gums bleed when I brush or floss?
When you start flossing for the first time in a while, it’s normal for your gums to bleed slightly. If this persists for more than a few days, though, it might indicate early-stage gum disease, or gingivitis. Definitely call us at that point! With early intervention, we can most likely eliminate the infection and prevent it from worsening and causing tooth loss later on.
What does my toothache mean?
A tooth can hurt for a variety of reasons, from an object stuck between the teeth to cracked enamel to decay or infection deep inside of the tooth. We won’t know how to treat the toothache until Dr. Mehta has examined your mouth and determined the cause. Please contact us as soon as you notice any unusual or unexplained discomfort in your tooth.
Can I straighten my teeth without braces?
Absolutely! With Invisalign clear aligners, teenagers and adults have the option of correcting their crooked teeth without uncomfortable metal braces. These clear plastic trays basically disappear when worn, so the people around you shouldn’t even notice that you’re going through orthodontic treatment. They also can be removed at any point, so you can brush, floss, and eat without hindrance.
What’s the best way to replace my missing teeth?
This answer will vary depending on the patient, but we usually recommend dental implants. They’re by far the most reliable, durable, and natural-looking option for tooth replacement. Plus, Dr. Mehta has undergone the extensive training necessary to provide start-to-finish dental implant treatment in the same comfortable, familiar dental office.
